Big Mac Special Sauce

Thursday, June 19, 2014

Drew still isn't back from his meeting yet, so I figured why not write another post? After two trips into town, blogging while keeping cool in his basement, and a gas station steak and cheese taquito for dinner, I figured I would share with you the recipe I use to make Big Mac Sauce. I made four servings earlier today (which would equal about enough for 32 burgers).

1/4 c miracle whip
1/4 c mayo
1/2 tbsp sweet pickle relish
1 1/2 tbsp dill pickle relish
2 tbsp french salad dressing
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp minced dried onion
1 tsp white vinager
1 tsp ketchup
a pinch of salt

Then all you need to do is mix together, and heat up for about 15 seconds. Refrigerate, and your done. Seriously though, it will make your man happy.

Procrastination at it's Finest

So here we are, almost 4 weeks after the housewarming party and I am finally posting pictures of the finished pieces. Major procrastination, right? He hasn't even sent out thank you cards yet either.. Yikes. Getting right on that. Have I mentioned he doesn't keep the air on? (As I'm writing this post trying to keep cool with the lights off in his unfurnished basement. Lol) I don't blame him though, who wants to pay for air when you work 12 hours a day and isn't even there to use it? Oh well.

Okay, here are pics!

Here is the finished ladder shelf that grandpa had made me from scratch at lowes. I am in love with it. And I feel like it was made perfectly for this little corner here!

That's it for now.  He still has a giant clock that I found half off at Kohl's that he wants to hang above the cabinets in the kitchen. And I have an oversized metallic "F" that I bought from Gingham Buffalo (best store ever) that I still have no idea where to put yet.

Happy almost Friday! I will be spending the rest of my evening curled up watching the second episode of Sherlock. :)

Housewarming Party Ideas

Thursday, May 22, 2014

Happy Memorial Day weekend! It's finally Friday and 5 o'clock can't come soon enough for this three day weekend. Lots of things planned to do, and the Housewarming Party is on Sunday!

With that being said, I put together some of the things I have planned for the party.

I went to the Chef Shoppe for the first time this past Tuesday and found that adorable woven drink dispenser stand for my mason jar drink dispenser that I have had for awhile, and I am so excited to use it because I have been looking for one forever...and this one is just perfect.

I also love the little Hooray cake topper letters that I found on clearance at Target, and spray painted the letters metallic silver, so that it will go with things easier, and will make it easier if I ever want to re-use them.  Silver goes with everything. I'm planning on putting it on top of chocolate chip cookie sandwiches that I will make Sunday along with everything else.  (Which includes white chocolate covered pretzels...my fav, homemade caramel popcorn, chips and salsa, and a cracker, meat, and cheese tray).

The little popcorn containers that I got from Michaels are the cutest things ever, and I'm planning on putting the homemade caramel popcorn in it, along with tags that say "Thanks For Popping By".  I couldn't help it.  :)

I'm also BEYOND excited, because my chalkboard finally looks great again!  Before, I had purchased the chalkboard at Kohls, and when I went to draw on it, it left nasty ugly marks behind. All I had to do was repaint over it with some chalkboard paint that I bought at Home Depot, and boom-better than it was new.  I blame the weird-not so-chalkboard finish it came with.  To tie together the red and orange colors I'm going with, I put together the garland to drape over the chalkboard.  It was super easy.  All you need is some string, cardstock, and a hotglue gun.

I'm so excited to see how everything turns out... and to show off the place for his, and my family and friends.

Also, the place is finally done and everything moved in!  Which means just in time for the party, and for another finished house tour. :)  Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

House Tour

Thursday, May 8, 2014

Finally able to post!  We have been so busy ever since he got the keys last week..it has been crazy.  Wednesday night we ended up moving all the boxes out of my room and into the place, and then we spent Thursday night and all Friday night deep cleaning and cleaning the carpets with the help of his family.  Needless to say, it looked spotless after we were done with it!

Saturday.. Furniture shopping day!  We stopped at a few places early in the morning to compare prices, and he ended up getting a white shag rug from Home Depot that was half the price and looked just as good as the one we fell in love with at Sam's.  Furniture shopping is so much fun... and after this past weekend I felt like Weekend's Only was my second home.  Seriously.  This is the couch he ended up picking out, and I LOVE IT!  It looks amazing against the white rug and the pillows accent it perfectly.  The minute we saw this oversized wood coffee table we were sold.  It's HUGE and I can't get enough of it.  I am so excited to finally post pics when it will be all finished... Still have curtains to hang and he just mounted the TV tonight.

Can I just say how great the timing was for him to have a company car?  All this traveling back and forth to get the furniture moved, and the space to put it all!

We made yet another trip to Weekend's Only Sunday afternoon to pick out a bed set, which will also be in the post of the house tour once everything is finished.  It's all coming together, and looks awesome! He's supposed to be getting his dining table next week, which will be just in time for the house warming party!  So excited!

So here is the tour of the empty house before we got everything in it.

I am obsessed with the overhead wall that makes it have a loft-feel.  And there is the lamp that was mentioned in this post that I love so much.

This bathroom divides the spare bedroom and the master bedroom that is to the right of the hallway.

This is the master bedroom with a decent sized walk-in closet and bathroom.

Master bathroom.

Bathroom that separates both bedrooms.

Basement living room.  And to the left of this picture is a HUGE storage room.

This is the basement bedroom.  Great size, with another walk-in closet, and a place to install another bathroom.

There it is!  Can't wait to show pics of the finished rooms.  Happy (almost) Friday!

Big Day

Tuesday, April 29, 2014

Tomorrow is finally the big move in day, and we couldn't be more excited!  Leaving work early so he can close on the house and move things in (which is not much considering he only has clothes and what is piled in boxes that we have bought in my room).  He's wanting to wait till Friday, or Saturday to maybe go get some furniture with the extra cash that he now has after selling his Camaro.  This has been a very eventful April!  Planning on showing a house tour in the next few days.  :)  But until then, here is a shot of the outside of it.

House Update and Current Favorite Must Have's

Tuesday, April 22, 2014

I haven't been able to post in a few weeks due to the fact that the house ended up falling through with Drew.  Like there I was one minute stocking up on Bath and Body's deal on foam soap, and the next minute he was telling me it was a no-go.  But all good news here, don't worry!

The timing couldn't have ended up more perfect.  Long story short, just last week he found out that it was his again, and then the very next day he was promoted to branch manager.  Double win!!  So now we are even more excited than before! :)

We have been shopping again for more fun stuff to fill the house with.  So here are a few things that I consider as my current favorite must-have's.

I am obsessed with the shutter mirror from Kirklands! (Almost half off from the original price online!!!) We're replacing the mirror that is currently in the bathroom with this one, and I can't wait to see the whole bathroom once we get everything in there, including the ladder shelf that Grandpa has made me.  In love with it.  I'll post with pictures and step by step instructions on DIY, another time.  Going back to Target this week to get this bath curtain that I have my eye on that matches the gray rug perfectly.

I can't even get over how much I love the homemade cookie's jar that is from Kirklands, as well.  And I just noticed that is now half-off online!

All inspections done, now just waiting patiently for the key!  Seriously, you should see my room right now.  I can't wait to get all the stuff out of there and into his house so I am able to walk through my room again! More post's coming soon on my favorite must-have's, I'm sure... because this weekend we are making a trip to Crate and Barrel. I stopped by shortly today in time to snatch up the last 2'x3' burlap and black striped doormat, found here, but waiting till this weekend to check out more stuff when we can both go shopping together!

Big Things

Thursday, April 3, 2014

So, the main reason I wanted to make this blog was for the sole purpose of documenting the exciting things that are happening in my life, lately.  I'm big on keeping anything that has any kind memory attached to it... So whats better than to make my own personal, online blog?!  So excited!

Anyways!  To get to the main point here...  My boyfriend is a first-time homeowner!!!!  As of last Friday.  And guess what?  The very next day we went shopping to find things to fill it with.  Can you tell we're excited?  ;)  Here are a few of the things we ended up buying last weekend.  I'm obsessed.

I know what you're thinking... where's all the things you really need?  Don't worry I have plenty of things to fill his kitchen with.  I threw a Pampered Chef party a few weeks ago and stocked up on plenty of fun things for the kitchen.  I can tell you all the good, juicy details, and free things of throwing a Pampered Chef party in another post. We also stocked up on towels and a few other things, and will be looking into furniture when he actually gets the key!

I am in love with this shelf floor lamp that we got from Kirklands.  Except we bought it in all white, instead of the black trim, like the one pictured above.  (The all white lamp didn't show up well on the white background, so I had to use the black).  I am also obsessed with this small chalkboard from Kohls that I am going to be putting in the kitchen.  It is half off right now, with an additional 20% off with your Kohls card!  I decided to get a few things to decorate the place with, like the white flower vase (bought from Target's clearance section), and the white wax warmer for the kitchen.  I really like this black and white block vase I got on clearance.  I'm going to use it in the kitchen to put all the cooking utensils in.  Make sure you always check the Target Cartwheel app for great deals, as well... I got the matte stainless steel silverware set for only $17.  And lastly, the most perfect wire basket, ever.  I found this little guy at Ashley Home Furniture (in stores, only).  I'm going to put it in the family room to hold all the blankets.

Can't wait to show a house tour of the place once he gets moved in!  I'm planning on posting before/after pictures of renovations, or any other DIY things that we plan to do. Thanks for reading!
